Airflow Basics
Airflow is the lifeblood of case cooling. As a general rule, pull cool air in from the front/bottom and push hot air out the rear/top — that layout works well for most builds.
Cool air in → Front/Bottom fans → CPU/GPU area → Rear/Top exhaust → Hot air out
Thermal Paste
- Thermal paste helps heat transfer between the CPU and cooler.
- You don't need to slather it on. A pea-sized dab is enough for most setups.
- When mounting the cooler, tighten the screws evenly in a cross pattern. Don't crank down one side all the way first.
Common Overheating Causes: Forgetting to peel off the cooler's plastic film, wrong fan direction, too little or too much thermal paste, blocked case airflow, dust buildup.
