This project's success isn't measured by how cutting-edge your embeddings are. It comes down to: are your files clean, does it actually search before reading, does it avoid making things up, does it show sources, and can you explain how it works. You can use vibe coding to write the UI, but a human still needs to own the RAG rules. Don't bolt on a big vector framework you don't understand — even finishing with fake search still counts as passing the lesson.
Let's connect it to everyday life
Steps — 1) 3 dummy files, 2) a paper diagram, 3) fake search, 4) a grounded answer plus source, 5) the not-found path, 6) refusing secrets, 7) running all 3 tests. You can finish this with Node.js, or even with paper and a fake lookup table. If you're not done yet, cut the scope down. Getting one phone question answered correctly is already a real win — but don't water down what counts as "done."
