What is MongoDB?

Relax. We'll talk through this in plain words — no textbook voice.

MongoDB is an open-source, document-oriented database that falls under the NoSQL category. Instead of tables and rows like traditional relational databases (SQL), MongoDB stores data as JSON-like documents in a format called BSON (Binary JSON).
